How to Use This Blog

Since we have lots and lots of videos here, you will need to know the best way of finding what you are looking for. Each post has the video(s) of the topic it is about. Many times there will be more than one video that is a continuation of the previous one. These videos will be posted together within the same post. To find what you are looking for, either use the search box or the list of categories posted in the right column.

We also have a list of PDF files that we hope to expand on to coincide with the videos. You will need to have Adobe Reader installed to be able to view these files.

Since the IQ system is constantly evolving, please keep in mind that some of the older videos may show features that have been replaced by newer ones.

Cleaning up recorded patterns.

This is a series of 4 videos by Helen showing how you can clean up recorded patterns using line pattern and smooth.
Thanks to Mindy Skinner for telling us about this slick method. Have a good laugh at my wonderful recordings - but be inspired to try this yourself.
Software version 12.24.09.

Part one shows a simple pattern being recorded and cleaned up with line pattern.

Part 2 shows using smooth to complete the clean up.

Part 3 shows a more complex pattern.

The continuation of part 3.

IQ Classes /Retreat in the Albany, NY Area

Kate Mitchell is hosting a IQ "retreat" sort of on Oct. 19th and 20th when I'll be in the NY area for an installation. She asked for interested in this over on the Yahoo list. If you're like me, the yahoo list seems to have gotten a little busy and I can't keep up with it LOL.... Kate lives in the Albany, NY area and has a beautiful vacation home they rent available for the housing. It should be a lot of fun with what she has planed. She had a quilting retreat with 8 women not to long ago and she said it worked out well. If you don't know about Kate, you can read about her over at http://www.berkshirequilts.com/

I'll teach whatever anyone needs me to but the neat thing about this is that Kate (a pattern designer) is talking about one day of sewing a mystery quilt and then the next day we'll go to the IQ with ideas, tips and anything else you want to see. We'll all be staying under the same roof so we can share all night long if necessary LOL... I'll actually be sewing this mystery quilt with the IQ and you'll be seeing things along the way. I plan on going over some of the newer features but I can't go to much into my trapunto technique as I will also be teaching at MQX and am under contract not to teach that until the show.

If you're interested, we need to know asap. She only can really hold 8 people. We're looking for 4 minimum and 6 would be ideal.

Thanks,
Linda Lawson
